What do you use a tone bend for?
A tone bend is a plastic hook attached to your hearing aid. It provides a stable connection between your hearing aids and your hearing tube. On most hearing aids, the hook is screwed onto the hearing aid, but on some you have to push a pin out of the hearing aid housing to remove the hook. With other brands, the earhook is firmly clicked onto the case. Always check carefully what you need to do to remove and replace your tone bend.
Why should I replace my tone bend?
A tone bend is sometimes fitted with a filter or damper. These can swell due to moisture and age, causing the sound reproduction to be less than optimal. Tone bends are available with or without a filter. Please note that the hearing care professional has specified that you wear a bend with or without a filter on your hearing aid. In general, we only sell the bends including a filter.
What is quite common is that the tone bend breaks. In most cases, this is because the hearing tube has become too hard. It shrinks considerably due to sunlight and your skin and can become as hard as glass. If you then try to remove your hearing tube from the earhook, the earhook will simply break off. You can then easily order a new earhook from us. But better maintenance can simply prevent this. So don't let your hearing tube attached to your tone bend get too hard.
