Looking for new Oticon domes for your hearing aids? These small parts are also commonly called hearing aid tips, eartips, ear domes or ear pieces and are fitted to the part of the hearing aid that sits inside the ear canal.
Oticon offers a range of dome types and sizes for hearing aids with a receiver in the ear, often referred to as RIC or RITE hearing aids. Domes are also used with certain hearing aids that have a thin sound tube. Depending on the model, hearing aids from Bernafon and Sonic may also use similar domes.
Although a hearing aid dome is only a small component, it can have a significant effect on comfort, fit and sound performance.
When should I replace my Oticon domes?
Oticon MiniFit domes are made from transparent, flexible material. With everyday use, they may gradually become discoloured, harder or less secure.
The dome may also lose some of its grip on the receiver or thin tube if it is removed frequently, for example when replacing an Oticon wax filter.
You should consider replacing your dome if it:
- becomes discoloured or misshapen;
- feels harder or less flexible;
- no longer fits securely on the receiver or tube;
- is damaged or torn;
- no longer feels comfortable in your ear.
Check your hearing aid domes regularly. This helps prevent a worn dome from becoming loose while wearing your hearing aid or affecting its performance.
What size Oticon dome do I need?
Oticon domes are available in several sizes. Depending on the dome type, sizes generally range from approximately 5 to 12 mm.
The correct size depends on both the size and shape of your ear canal and the type of dome you use.
To determine the size of your current dome, measure the widest part of the dome. This measurement gives you an approximate diameter in millimetres.
Whenever possible, choose the same size and type as your existing dome. Changing the size can affect both comfort and the sound of your hearing aids.
Which type of Oticon dome do I need?
Oticon offers several different dome types. Check your current dome carefully and, if available, compare it with the original packaging.
Oticon MiniFit domes
Oticon MiniFit domes are transparent and are generally supplied in black packaging. They are used with various Oticon hearing aids fitted with MiniFit receivers and thin tubes.
Oticon RITE domes
Older Oticon RITE domes are often slightly milky or translucent and are generally supplied in white packaging.
Please note: MiniFit domes and older RITE domes are not automatically interchangeable.
Oticon Power Domes
An Oticon Power Dome can be recognised by its double-dome design. It provides a more closed fit than an open dome and is used when a greater level of sealing is required.
Oticon Bass Domes
The Oticon Bass Dome is a more closed dome with one or two small ventilation openings. It provides more sealing than an open dome while still allowing some ventilation of the ear canal.
