Need new miniFit Open Domes? Check the size and type on your current pack. You can choose 5, 6, 8 or 10 mm here. One detail to note: the 5 mm option is the OpenBass version, part number 218355.
Which devices use them?
Oticon describes Open Domes for devices including Opn and Opn S with a suitable miniFit receiver. “Oticon” or “miniRITE” alone is not enough. Open is not automatically the right replacement for OpenBass, Bass or Power.
For Intent with miniFit Detect, Oticon describes OpenBass with separate size and receiver conditions. See miniFit OpenBass Domes. Bernafon, Philips and Sonic devices also need the matching receiver system and prescribed dome.
Which version will you receive?
- 5 mm – OpenBass 218355: also sold under OpenBass. Oticon lists it as an exception for Opn S; for miniFit Detect it is listed only with receiver 60.
- 6 mm – Open:125926.
- 8 mm – Open:125925.
- 10 mm – Open:125924.
Compare the package and part number. Dome diameter is not the receiver designation 60 or 85. The dome and wax filter are separate parts.
Newer models do not automatically use Open Domes
OpenBass is the matching open dome type for suitable versions of Reveal, Play SI miniRITE, Verit miniRITE T, Jet PX miniRITE R/T and Zeal. Do not automatically order the classic 6,8 or 10 mm Open versions for them. Zeal lists OpenBass from 6 mm; the 5 mm option is not confirmed for it.
Replacement and care
Follow your model’s care instructions. Wipe the dome with a soft cloth as directed and replace it if blocked, damaged or due for replacement. Oticon recommends replacement at least monthly. Zeal domes should be replaced rather than washed, monthly or more often if needed.
- Hold the receiver and carefully pull off the old dome.
- Push a new dome of the same type and size fully onto the connection.
- Check it is secure before putting the device in your ear.
A different type or size can change the fit and sound. Have such a change assessed first.
