Follow a speaker, even at a distance
Want to follow a speaker in class or during an explanation? EduMic picks up their voice and sends it to compatible hearing aids. The speaker wears the microphone on their clothes or on a neck strap, so it captures their voice close to where they're speaking.
Which hearing aids work with it?
EduMic uses Oticon's proprietary 2.4 GHz connection. Suitable wireless versions include Opn, Opn S, Opn Play, Xceed, Xceed Play, Ruby, Siya, More, Real, Zircon and Play PX. Oticon also lists EduMic for Intent, Reveal miniRITE R, Play SI, Verit, Jet PX miniRITE R and Zeal nxtCIC R. Custom hearing aids must have the required wireless connection: Own SI IIC/CIC is not the same as a wireless Own ITC/ITE.
Oticon Medical Ponto 4 and the Ponto 5 series also support EduMic. After initial pairing, compatible devices receive sound without a separate receiver attached to the hearing aid. Bluetooth support alone does not establish compatibility with another brand.
Four listening modes
- Microphone: the speaker's voice, with a stated range of up to 20 metres.
- 3.5 mm audio input: sound from a computer or another source using a suitable audio cable, also up to 20 metres.
- FM/DAI: connection to a classroom system through a separate universal Europin receiver. EduMic does not have a built-in Roger receiver. Keep EduMic within three metres of the listener.
- Telecoil: relays sound from an active hearing loop; keep EduMic within three metres of the listener.
Set-up and charging
First pair EduMic with your hearing aids following the manual. It remembers the connection. EduMic stores up to ten hearing aid sets for automatic programme selection. A full battery provides around ten hours of use; the selected mode affects battery life. The button lets you mute the microphone.
You are ordering EduMic. Hearing aids and any external FM/Roger receiver are not automatically included. For hands-free calls, ConnectClip is a different type of accessory. EduMic is primarily for listening to a speaker or an external audio source.
